Testing

If you are an academic (GED bound) student, the scores you receive on your initial entrance TABE test are used for accurate placement. This means your scores determine the point at which you will begin your studies. Retesting is not available until you have spent several weeks in class, so poor performance on the TABE test could actually lengthen your stay in class.

For career and technical education students, the scores are used to demonstrate basic skill level achievement as required by the Florida Department of Education.

The HOBET (Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test)
is a secured basic skills examination that identifies a student’s expertise in math and science-based reading comprehension.  The HOBET also determines learning styles, stress levels and test taking skills for counseling purposes.  This test is a requirement to enter many of the health occupations training programs at Orlando Tech. There
is a $35.00 fee for HOBET.

NET (Nurse Entrance Test)
The NET, or Nurse Entrance Test, is an application requirement of the Practical Nursing program. The NET evaluates seven areas that are essential for academic success including basic math skills, science, reading comprehension, and learning styles. Over 600,000 students have taken the NET in the last 4 years. National norming is evaluated each year to provide the most current statistics by degree program for group and individual results. 24% of all RN and LPN nursing programs utilize the NET for either pre-admission testing or as a counseling tool. There is a $35.00
fee for NET.

All applicants for the PN program at Orlando Tech must take the NET here. You will be allowed 3 attempts to pass this exam, however you must pay the testing fee of $35 for each test you take. Your NET scores will remain valid for a period of 2 years.

For your convenience, the NET Study Guide is available in our bookstore for $34.65 plus tax. You may also go to www.eriworld.com and click on NET Study Guide to order on-line.
