General Information
Orlando Tech, an Orange County Public School,
is approved by the Florida Department of Education and accredited
by the Commission on Council on Occupational Education and the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement. Technical education
programs provide entry-level occupational skills training
and update or advanced training for employed individuals.
Orlando Tech is located near the intersection
of State Road 50 (Colonial Drive) and I-4 in downtown Orlando. Both
day and evening programs are available.
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees are based on the type of training
• Certificate Programs - $1.92
per hour
• Continuing Education - $4.00
per hour
• Non-Resident Certificate - $7.67
per hour
Fees are customarily due on the entry date.
Florida residents who do not have a high school
diploma and enroll in Adult General Education or AEL classes
are not charged tuition fees.
Other Fees/Costs
• Lab fees are assessed for most
programs.
• Other costs (textbooks, tools,
uniforms, etc.) vary
according to the program.
• An additional charge may be assessed
for Vocational
Preparatory Instruction (VPI).
Entry Dates
• Many programs are open entry/open
exit allowing
enrollment at any time.
• Some programs require a specific
entry date and may
have an enrollment waiting list. The application
process should be finalized with Student Services
immediately upon completion of testing.
Financial Aid
• Guidance counselors will provide
referral information to
students seeking assistance.
• Students applying for financial
aid (including Veteran’s
Administration, Vocational Rehabilitation, One-Stop,
Single Parent Program, Pell Grant, SFAF Grant, and
assistance from other private
and public organizations)
must visit the Financial Aid office in Room 276.
Program Completion Requirements
• Program completion requires a
minimum TABE level which
varies depending on the program, in addition to
successful mastery of instructional outcomes.
• Early occupational completion
points require no
minimum TABE level.
Refund Policy
Full-time students qualify for a full refund
of tuition/lab fees providing the withdrawal occurs within
the first five class sessions for semester (18 weeks) scheduled
classes. If the student is halftime or the course is
scheduled for less than 18 weeks, the student will qualify
for a full refund provided the withdrawal occurs within the
first 10 percent of the total scheduled class hours. The
drop period begins with the entry date on the class schedule/receipt. Effective
July 1, 2002, any currently enrolled student at an area technical
center who is called to, or enlists in, active military service
shall not incur academic or financial penalties by virtue
of performing military service on behalf of our country. Such
student shall be permitted the option of either completing
the course or courses at a later date without penalty or
withdrawing from the course or courses with a full refund
of tuition and lab fees paid. The initial application
fee, charges for books and supplies purchased through the
school bookstore, and the parking decal charge are not refundable. If
the student chooses to withdraw, the students record shall
reflect that the withdrawal is due to active military service. The
Title IV Fair and Equitable Refund Policy applies to all
Title IV (Federal Pell Grant) recipients. Detailed refund
