Child Care Apprenticeship Program

This program is intended for individuals currently employed in a child care facility working under a credentialed supervisor. Students receive observation and evaluation visits at their child care facility employment site.

Child Care Apprenticeship Program Teaches:

  • to establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for young children
  • to help children advance physically and intellectually
  • to support children’s social and emotional development with positive guidance
  • to establish positive relationships with families
  • to ensure a well-run program for children
  • to maintain a commitment to professionalism in their career

Credits Awarded at Community College: Students are eligible to receive up to nine credits toward completion of an AAS/AS Early Childhood Education Degree at a Florida community college.


Employment Opportunities:

  • Preschool Teacher

Starting Salary:

  • $8.00 to $11.00 per hour

  • Licensed Child Care Centers
  • Head Start Programs
  • Preschools
  • Voluntary Pre-K Programs

Industry Certifications or Accreditations:

  • Child Care Apprenticeship Certificate
  • Automatic verification of a Florida Staff Credential upon program completion

Total Cost:

  • There is no fee for attending this program

 

Program Length: 

  • 300 in class hours
  • 4000 Job Experience Hours

Requirements:

  • 18 years of age
  • TABE Test
  • Standard High School Diploma or GED
  • Current employment in a Child Care Facility

Class Schedule:

  • Monday and Wednesday, 6:15pm to 8:45pm
