Domestic Violence (2 Hours Online)
This session discusses causes and intervention. It deals with the facts and myths of violence and abuse in the family setting. It provides the healthcare worker with guidelines regarding assessment and information gathering that may lead to clues of hidden abuse. It also provides community resource information.
HIV/AIDS Seminar (Initial course) (4 Hours Online)
This session incorporates the objectives recommended by Florida Board of Nursing and Florida Department of Professional Regulations. It includes education on modes of transmission, prevention, information on Fl. Law concerning AIDS and impact on testing and test results; treatment, testing and reporting.
HIV/AIDS Update (2 Hours Online)
This session reviews transmission, infection control, clinical management, prevention, treatment, counseling and testing, HIV testing for pregnant women, partner notification issues.
Preventing Medical Errors (2 Hours online)
This session includes factors that impact the occurrence of medical errors, recognizing error-prone situations, root cause analysis, sentinel events, processes to improve patient outcomes, responsibilities for reporting, safety needs for special populations, public education.
This session includes the modes of scabies transmission, frequent areas of infestation, test procedures, treatment; testing procedures, education and infection control practices.
This session includes an explanation between the difference between tuberculosis and infection, modes of transmission, risk factors, clinical symptoms, testing procedures and interpretation, facility respiratory protection plan.
This session includes causes of staph aureus becoming multi drug resistant, six links in chain of infection, community associated MRSA, routes of transmission of MRSA in acute care and community settings, strategies to reduce its spread, importance of hand hygiene, difference between infection and colonization.
IV Therapy/ Central Line Management
(34 Hours– 30 Hrs. online; 4 hours on-ground component)Successful completion of this 34 hour training will give the RN, LPN and Respiratory Therapist confidence in peripheral IV Therapy/central line management. This course meet the Florida Board of Nursing requirements for IV therapy/ central line management for the LPN.
Topics included: IV Central Venous Access, Peripheral and Central Venous Therapy Complications, Anatomy and Physiology, Placement and Insertion Practice, Legal Issues, Infection Control, Rate and Medication Calculation, Fluid and Electrolyte Balance Blood and Blood Component Therapy, Total Parenteral Nutrition
Specialized IV Therapy: Chemotherapy, Geriatric Therapy, IV Pain Management, Pediatric Therapy.
