• CPR Initial Training: 8 Hours

Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers: Register at Orlando Tech

Purpose of training:  For participants who must have a credential (a card) documenting successful completion of a course in CPR and BLS for healthcare professionals.

The American Heart Association developed this course to improve rates of survival from sudden cardiac arrest by strengthening the Chain of Survival in every health care setting. It emphasizes the importance of early activation of 911, CPR (with mouth-to-mouth and bag mask ventilation), use of an AED, relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO) in responsive and unresponsive victims.

• Competency Performance Evaluation Testing (CPET): 4 Hours

Purpose of training:
This Review /Evaluation for the Home Health Aide is for renewal purposes only. It is designed to review the following skills:

  • Handwashing/ Gloving
  • Principles of Body Mechanics
  • Take and Record Temperature, Pulse and Respiration
  • Personal Patient Care (oral hygiene, bathing, elimination, grooming needs, skin care)
  • Use of Written Communication
  • AE Hose

Purpose of training: This course discusses causes and interventions. Deals with the facts and myths of violence and abuse in the family setting. Provides the healthcare worker with guidelines regarding assessment and information gathering that may lead to clues of hidden abuse. It provides community resource information.

Purpose of training: Each person licensed or certified in a health profession in Florida must complete an initial 4 hour continuing educational course specified by the Florida Department of Professional Regulations on human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
