Credits Awarded at Community College:

  • 9 credits toward completion of an AAS/AS Early Childhood Education Degree at Community College level.

Requirements:

Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years old
  • TABE  Level D
    9(R)
    9(M)
    9(L)
  • Background Screening Check and Affidavit of Good Moral Character

Program Completion Requirements:

  • Minimum TABE Score of Grade 9 or documented exemption
  • Completion of DCF State Mandated Introductory Training Competency Exams including Preschool Appropriate Practices and a DCF approved 5 Hour Literacy Training
  • Documentation of 480 hours direct work with children 5 years of age or younger in a licensed child care facility with a credentialed supervisor
  • Documented observation by a qualified observer
  • Completion of a Professional Resource File
  • Demonstration of competency in the 8 child care content areas
  • Submission of a completed ECPC application and all documentation to the Early Childhood Education instructor
  • High School Diploma or GED

Starting Salary:

  • $10 - $15 per hour

 

Full Time Class Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday:
    Daytime


Program Length: 

  • 600 hours
    (120 hours related instruction + 480 hours direct experience)
