Mission
To provide quality entry-level training
for students entering x-ray related occupations in the community
or articulation with pursuit of a higher degree.
Program Discription
Our small classes
ensure ongoing personalized attention throughout the entire
program. Students reach their goal by instructor-led lectures,
interactive computer software, student based activities, videos,
textbooks, Power Point presentations, skills performance and
written testing. Program content includes but is not limited
to patient care, medical terminology, body systems and diseases,
radiation protection, equipment operation and maintenance, radiographic
procedures, and image production and evaluation. Additional content
focuses on the employability skills necessary to develop the
personal and professional competence required by the medical
community. Reinforcement of basic skills in English, mathematics
and science appropriate for the profession occurs throughout
the program. Cross training supplemental classes in introductory
ECG and venipuncture skills are offered for Basic X-ray Program
students after school at Orlando Tech.
Certification
The State of Florida has mandatory
Basic X-ray Machine Operator certification allowing radiography
practice in the outpatient ambulatory setting. Certification
is not transferable to another state and requires 12 continuing
medical education hours per biennium.

| HOBET (Health Occupations
Basic Entrance Test) available on computer with immediate
printout of your results for $35 per administration. |

Admission Schedule
This 650 hour program is offered
twice yearly and is scheduled Monday though Friday from 8 am
to 2:30 pm. Check with program instructor
for next start date.
Employment Opportunities
Opportunities with several types
of practices are available in our area and employment assistance
is available. While we train you for the skills you will need
for the job, your personal and professional behavior that will
keep you the job.
Articulation
This program articulates with the AS
Radiography program at Valencia Community College. Basic X-ray
Program graduates receive 10 points in the application process.
Program graduates with a final grade of 80 or above will receive
college credit for Medical Terminology and Patient Care in
Radiography.
